The Amiga 500
Deluxe Paint and Photon Paint
These early drawings were produced on the Amiga 500, using a 2D program called Deluxe Paint, which came bundled with the computer, and with Photon Paint.
By todays standards, these are pretty poor, but at the time the capabilities of the Amiga, and software like Deluxe Paint, were jaw dropping.

Imagine
Imagine was a 3D program given free on a magazine coverdisk. As far as free software was concerned, Imagine was a good all-rounder. Object construction, and scene building was fairly easy. The only downside was the time taken to render the final scene. This could take anything from a few hours, to a couple of days. It worked on a principle known as "Ray Tracing", the same as todays 3D software.
(Note: I think a small chapter about "Ray Tracing" could be a good idea).
